Equal parts espresso, steamed milk, and airy foam — drier and more intense than a latte, in a smaller cup.

Step by step

  1. Pull a double shot into a 5–6 oz cup.
  2. Steam milk with more air than a latte to build a thick foam.
  3. Layer roughly one-third espresso, one-third milk, one-third foam.
Tip: More foam, less milk than a latte — that's what makes a cappuccino drier and bolder.

A cappuccino lives or dies on its foam. No espresso-machine steam wand? A good milk frother gets you thick, café-style foam at home.
